Inside the Box: Starblood Stalkers

Hello, Gloryseekers!

Jonathan here, with my product review of the new Starblood Stalkers expansion!

Games Workshop was kind enough to send me a copy of this product to review, so here we go!

In this review I will be covering my thoughts on the physical contents of the box, and my general opinion of this product. For more in depth tactical thoughts and advice on how to play the warband, or a tactical review of the universals, check out the more game-play oriented card and warband reviews here:

Who are the Starblood Stalkers?

In the lore of Warhammer Underworlds Direchasm, the Starblood Stalkers are the good guys! They have entered the mountain in order to destroy it and stop it from becoming an unstoppable demi-god. They are a part of overall grand alliance faction of Order, along with other recent warbands like Myari’s Purifiers and Morgweath’s Blade-coven.

The warband is a hunting party led by Kixi-Taka, a Skink Priest, and accompanied by the fearsome Saurus Oldblood, Klaq-Trok.

You can see the lore details for the warband on the included card:

What Comes In The Box?

The warband box contains:

  • The miniatures for the warband’s 6 fighters
  • A page of instructions on how to put them together
  • 6 fighter cards
  • 32 faction cards
  • The above lore card
  • 30 universal cards

My box also contained an extra copy of the leader Kixi-Taka’s card wrapped separately from the other cards. It turns out the other copy of the card included was in what appears to be Spanish, so it seems there may have been a production issue that was corrected by inserting the additional copy in English.

The Miniatures

Here are some pictures of the sprues for these miniatures. The plastic is a nice blue-ish teal color.

I found the miniatures very straightforward to put together, and the instructions seemed accurate. The Games Workshop designers did a great job with these push fit miniatures, and you can hardly tell where the pieces connect to one another. I only used glue on Klaq-Trok’s chest piece (number 26), which made it much easier to put the two large pieces of the torso together. All of the other miniatures went together just fine without any glue.

Here are the assembly instructions:

Final Thoughts

Overall I think the Starblood Stalkers is a great expansion for Warhammer Underworlds: Direchasm, and is perhaps my favorite so far this season. The miniatures provide a cool variety of the Seraphon faction with a mix of different skink types and Klaq-Trok, and the miniatures all have cool poses that make it easy to tell one miniature from another, which is always a good thing in Underworlds.

Gameplay wise, the warband is very different from the others we have seen so far in Direchasm with 6 fighters of various sizes, and looks like it will have a strong objective/control flex playstyle. I am very excited to try them out in the upcoming weeks, and face them across the tabletop.

Thanks for Reading!

I am very grateful to Games Workshop for allowing me to review this product.
