Warhammer Underworlds Statistics Project: 2026 New Year Update

Borni here! After a longer pause I want to give a short update on the Warhammer Underworlds Statistics project. Despite relative radio silence here on Path to Glory, there were several updates and improvements. I also have a call to action for you, dear players and tournament organizers.

Short reminder what the project actually is: Together with a small team, I collect both individual and tournament games being played and calculate different metrics on the results, which are publicly available as a spreadsheet and as an interactive dashboard. For the data itself, I rely on community members submitting games.

State of the Project

Over the last couple of months, several tournaments have been added to the stats:

  • Konsul/Mikkel: Faraos CPH (Denmark, September 2025, 7 players)
  • Fishmode: The End of Embergard (USA, September 2025, 11 players)
  • Borni: 2025 World Championships of Warhammer (USA, November 2025, 66 players)
  • Mr.Bombardi: First Flames of Spitewood (Austria, November 2025, 9 players)
  • Fourthmoz: Hidden Threat (Belarus, November 2025, 8 players)
  • Fourthmoz: Sacred Potion (Belarus, December 2025, 8 players)
  • Fourthmoz: Happy New Grot (Belarus, January 2026, 8 players)

As you can see, these are mostly small local events, but also include the World Championship in Atlanta, which makes up hundreds of games.

If we look at the data from the release of Embergard onward, around 6000 games have been reported. While this is surely only a fraction of actual games being played, it is still a major achievement by the community!

Besides the raw data, the system itself has received several upgrades. With the release of Spitewood, some warbands had to be separated into legacy and current iterations, e.g. Thricefold Discord and Zarbag’s Gitz. This ensured that results don’t get mixed up and no data is lost. The deck combination metrics in the dashboard were bugged, which was thankfully pointed out by a community member. And with every release, the indices of warbands, decks, and possible deck combinations have to be updated.

A major improvement addressed the data import process of event data. This has big implications for the data submission process by tournament organizers: Previously, results had to be entered by hand. This isn’t the case anymore, and as long as a few requirements are met, I can now import the whole event myself. This means basically zero work on the side of TOs.

Outlook

As you can probably imagine, this project takes a lot of time all the time. And with some changes in my work life, I have less of that than I used to. This means that I can’t look for events to be imported myself anymore. This is reflected in the number of games submitted by month, which now mostly depends on individual games being reported:

So here’s my call to action:

  • Keep submitting your individual games and tell other people to do so. In Germany we say “Kleinvieh macht auch Mist”, meaning every little bit helps.
  • Send me your tournaments to be imported using this form and tell other TOs about it. If we manage to import 5–10 tournaments a month, we’re in a really good spot.
  • If you have some free time at your disposal, contact me and help out with importing tournament data. This can be done at your own pace and would help out a lot.

For tournaments there is one major requirement: All players need to have deck lists submitted as an UnderworldsDB link on Shadeglass or BCP. This is the major hurdle for the project. Unfortunately, BCP allows free-form deck list submissions, which are hard to deal with. So you need to tell players about the link requirement, e.g., in the event description. You can find out more about this requirement in the project’s documentation.

Thanks for Your Time and Effort

I know that contributing to the project is another thing to think about. But I would argue that the little time it takes is worth the effort for the community. For 2026 I plan to streamline my communication process and focus more strongly on cooperation with local communities and other content creators. As said, just telling your gaming group about the stats is already a huge help.

May the bell curve be with you, over & out, Borni.
