As it’s that time of the season, I wanted to share my hopes, dreams and wish list for Warhammer Underworlds in 2025. These are the things I’d love to see released next year!
Daughters of Khaine Warband
We’ve got three warbands (at least) coming in 2025. I really hope one of them is within the Daughters of Khaine faction. I love that faction and it’s sad to me that currently there is not a tournament legal option. I love the models and how dynamic the range is; I would love to see some new sculpts. Honestly, I liked the Blade Coven and the Arenai, but being honest, most of the fighters are standing still. I’d love to see more of them like Khamyss or Retaria, in amazing action poses.
Another Take & Hold Deck
It’s clear that Reckless Fury contains a number of powerful cards, but I believe part of its meta-defining nature is the playstyle double up with Blazing Assault. Having a dual-Strike deck setup allows for a very mono-focused gameplan with every piece in support of what you want to do…SMASH. I cannot wait to see what happens when we get another Take & Hold deck. Will there be the ability for 20+ objective glory? What tools will be there to get on or stay on treasure tokens? I think this will open more lines for your gameplan and I just can’t wait for a boost to Take & Hold.
The reason that I’m not as concerned for Flex or Mastery is that both of those deck-styles may not go together with one another. Take Countdown to Cataclysm and Wrack and Ruin. Just because they’re both Mastery, doesn’t mean they play great together. Ping is the commonality (and for some reason you can’t score Predictable End with Sunder the Realm). For Flex decks, I would assume the next one is not “more delve”, so it’s unlikely the deck alignment will be a powerful combo.
FAQ and Designer’s Commentary
I don’t want to belabour this point a lot, so I’m going to keep it brief. We need a proper rules FAQ and Designer’s Commentary with some balance changes (cough, cough Dromm, cough, cough, cough Reckless Fury). Let’s hope we get one soon.
Dice Packs
I’m a dice goblin. I love dice and especially having dice kits that match my faction and my paint job. We need more dice! Bring back the tiny sets from Nightvault and Beastgrave and I will give you my money. I hope they aren’t like the Grand Alliance sets though. Those save dice are unreadable for most factions and for some reason I never roll well with any of them…
Organized Play Kits
I want all the loot! Acrylic tokens, alternate boards, alternate fighter cards (would be cool to see community paint jobs on these!)! I will take whatever I can and play for it. Part of what got me excited about the game were the little upgrades that I could win in tournaments. I want to share that feeling with the community and have new players experience the same!
